Dana Eaton

Healdsburg, CA

Dana grew up in Connecticut, received her BFA, Ohio University, 1973, and with her husband, Chuck, moved to Silicon Valley, 1976.  Over the years Dana has created a life with family, art, and China as her cornerstones.  Outside of family life, leadership, creativity, travel, and cross-cultural experiences have enriched her life.  After thirty-seven years in Silicon Valley Dana and her husband moved to Sonoma County in 2006 for a change in pace, with family, art, and China still cornerstones of her life.

Dana was first introduced to printmaking in 1996 in a class taught by Eileen Hill at Mission College, Santa Clara, CA.  Over the years she has taken many classes with other Bay Area printmakers.  The magic of paper, ink, and the press working together keeps her interesting in printmaking. In 2006 Dana became a juried member of California Society of Printmakers.  After moving to Sonoma County, Dana sought to broaden her understanding of color and to explore working loose and more intuitively. Dana began this exploration taking classes in abstract painting with Robert Burridge and Suzanne Edminster.  Dana’s new work is a growing body of dynamic abstract acrylic paintings that are examples of discovering the hidden voice, working intuitively and loose with layers of color.  Several of Dana’s new acrylics are now in private collections in Sonoma County.  Always the seeker, Dana has recently undertaken the study of Amanae, Emotional Release Therapy, with Pat Jackman and Jeanne Hollenbeck, in Sebastopol, CA.  Through art and, now, Amanae Dana journeys to explore, trust, and express the inner, intuitive, artist’s voice.
