Artist Dana Eaton does abstract, intuitive narrative, and landscape monotypes
Sunnyvale, CA
My monotypes are lyrical compositions of line, texture, color, and design in both abstract and representative forms. I enjoy monotype work because it incorporates drawing and painting skills with the added technique and complexity of transferring the image from one surface to another. The etching press adds an element of mystery and magic in combination with the spontaneous and fluid ink work that keeps me coming back to discover and rediscover my art. I received a BFA from Ohio University. In the ensuing years I have taught art in elementary school, raised two children, explored art in classes in various colleges and universities in the San Francisco Bay Area. My introduction to printmaking was with Eileen Hill, Mission College and Alan May, Pacific Art League, Palo Alto. I have also studied with Robynn Smith, Lori Hinrichson, and Kathryn Kain. Now, I work in my home print studio, I am President of South Bay Area Women's Caucus for Art, and a juried member of Gallery House, Palo Alto. Selected Exhibitions AVArt Fest - Honorable Mention, Triton Museum of Art, Santa Clara,CA, 1998 AVArt Fest - Award of Merit, Triton Museum of Art, Santa Clara, CA, 2004 SBAWCA Membership Show - Award of Merit, Hakone Gardens, Saratoga, CA, 2004 New Members' Show, Gallery House, Palo Alto, CA, 2004 Upcoming Shows 2006 Fire, Color, Earth three-person show, Gallery House, April 2006 One-person show, California Landscapes, Advanced Micro Devices International Executive Headquarters, Sunnyvale, CA, May 2006
